Musings below…
Solstice has passed and we are welcoming a lil bit more light everyday, minute by minute. Whisperings of spring are on blooming acacia’s, sprouting fresh green grass, daffodil tips.
I’ve been enjoying our winter slumber. Familiar, cyclical, we get here every year. More sleep, hearty warm meals, tea cup full, chilled air freezing your face and ears on brisk walks. Dinner parties with friends to pass the time, those long long dark nights.
It’s this time of year, in the slowness, where I call upon tools that help fuel the fire. My creative fire, the slow burning fire of health, connection, and necessary rest. The prep and care done now helps pour support into my busy go go go Summertime.
I love to pull my eyes/energy away from social media (January is a no instagram month for me every year). The less input/consumption, the more creativity eagerly flows inside and out of me. This yearly ritual serves a deep purpose.
The dye vats are gathering rain water drip by drip but begging to be full of big, rich, golden marigolds again. (I’ll be dyeing some things this week, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re waiting to get yourself a set of silk pillowcases!)
I lean on my skincare rituals - many rose glow face masks mixed with honey + clary sage hydrosol. Moon Butter after every shower or bath. Clean bedding spritzed with lavender hydrosol. Warm cuppa harvest tea with a friend by the fire. A hot hot bath under the stars with my flower bath salts.
Seed catalogs have found their way in our mailbox yearning to be thumbed through and dreamt about.
This winter I got an e-bike (a cargo style where Eden can sit on the back!), and it has very quickly become my favorite thing ever! Bike rides are pure joy, they have a way of making you feel like a kid again. It’s really a delight, and I get to drive my car less. Win win if you ask me.
I hope you’re warm, nourished, and resting. I hope you know you’re loved :) I’m grateful you’re here with me, in this big big world.
