Frequently Asked Questions

Please email me with any more questions!

1. Why do you use Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Local Honey as your tincture base?

Most of the medicinal tinctures on the market are alcohol based. Personally, when I was looking for tinctures I was not inspired or inclined to buy any of the ones readily available. The only option that was alcohol free had a glycerine base, and I just couldn't get behind that. Apple Cider Vinegar is something that I feel very good about ingesting daily. It has numerous and well touted health benefits, as well as a flavor that, when pared with honey, is quite lovely. My tinctures are intended to be an addition to your everyday self care program, and making sure it is a pleasant and rewarding practice is vital.

Some benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:

  • Helps digestion
  • Aids overall gut health and issues with gas of any kind (bloating, burping, etc.)
  • Regulates blood sugar
  • Balances your pH
  • Relieves symptoms of a cold
  • Aids in detoxification

Some benefits of Local Honey:

  • It is pure magic...seriously.
  • Counteracts pollen allergies
  • Antioxidant powerhouse
  • Natural coat for a sore throat
  • Helps you sleep

2. How do you take your tinctures?

I drink a lot of water throughout the day, so to add flavor and magic to my drink I choose a potion that best suits how I am feeling in the moment. Two to three droppers into a glass of water and you're set! Making elixirs for yourself, or with friends, can provide a really fun and exciting ritual experience. Most of the tinctures I sell, are intended to be a preventative, ongoing practice, and not a reactive, quick fix; the more you use them, the more they can infuse into your life. The tinctures can also be added to homemade smoothies, chocolates, kombucha, etc. Use your intuition. Most of the time, because they taste so good, I just take the droppers straight into my mouth.

3. Are the body oils just carrier oil with added essential oils ?

No, I am a firm believer in whole plant infusions. This means that I collect the plant at peak potency, finely cut to process, and infuse it into the carrier oil for 2-4 months (time dependent on plant). Because the entire plant is infused into the oil, the components are able to truly awaken and seep into the carrier oil. No part is missing or being stripped out; it is a slow method that creates a high quality product. Whole plant infusions are better for the environment than essential oils, which use a LOT of plant material to create each little bottle. An example of this is the roughly 63 lbs of lemon balm it takes to make 15 mL of Essential Oils.

Why do you infuse the plant material into organic sunflower oil?

I choose to infuse the plant material into organic sunflower oil because while it is a nice and light oil, it is deeply nourishing and warming so that any type of skin is able to soak it up. Also, it carries more Vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. Growing oil sunflowers also has the lowest environmental impact of large scale vegetable oils because the flowers depend of the least amount of water, have the lowest carbon footprint, can be planted in poor soil, and are GMO free.

What part of your body do you use the body oils on?

All parts! These oils are safe for massages from your self, or loved ones. If I am in a pinch for time, ideally after a shower when the pores are open, I will apply to my neck, hands, and arms for a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation. The other way I love to use these oils is before bedtime, by rubbing them (especially the "sweet dreams" blend) on my feet, putting on socks, and going to sleep.

4. Where can I purchase your products if I live in Humboldt County, CA?

I am happy to meet up and get you your products if you live in the area. Please order through my site, and make sure put a check in the "shop local" option, to avoid a shipping fee. I am available most weekday mornings and would be happy to meet with you! Mckinleyville and Arcata are ideal for me, but let me know and we can work something out!

Shops that carry some of my products are:

  • The Bodega in 426 3rd Street Eureka, CA 95501

5. Do you sell "bulk" tinctures? I am going through this 1 oz bottle quickly.

Yes! I have 4 oz bottles available at your request, just go to the "contact" page and let me know which one you would like in bulk. The price for 4 ounces is $55. (a little discount!)

6. One of your products is sold out, when will you re-stock?

My products ebb and flow with the seasons. When my garden is alive and booming I am constantly harvesting and making product, but once my garden dies back for the Winter I do not have access to fresh plant material! So, be patient and send a message about which products you are most looking forward to in the Summer of 2018! Thanks for understanding that the magic lies in my practice and dedication to seasonality.
